There is no shelf life and the product will stay good as long as it is stored properly. We recommend keeping no more than a three months stock on hand to keep product fresh. When product is not on shelves, keep it tightly sealed in a cool, dry place.

All of our blends are designed to be attractive to a wide variety of birds. They can’t go wrong!

All of our Mr. Bird seed cylinders and cakes are much less messy than other birdseed, since the birds can't easily throw the seed on the ground. For even less mess, we recommend trying Burning Love, since it is all sunflower hearts, there is nothing left behind once the birds are done with it.

Give it time! Birds can be very cautious around new food, even if it is on the same feeder they’ve gone to before. It can take them weeks to warm up to something new, so just be patient.

Worst case, the seed might have spoiled, which can happen if the seed gets wet. If it looks moldy or black, have the customer dispose of the seed and be sure to clean the feeder well to prevent the next seed they put out from getting moldy.

We suggest using a Squirrel Guard first. For it to be effective, the feeder needs to be at least 8 feet from trees, fences, or anything the squirrel could use as a launch pad. If their space does not allow for that, our hot pepper products, Flaming Hot Feast, Burning Love, and Disco Inferno, are spicy so it keeps the squirrels away. It does not hurt the squirrels any more than eating a jalapeno hurts us, and it doesn’t bother the birds because they can’t taste the spice. Disco Inferno is twice as hot as Flaming Hot and Burning Love, so you can recommend that to customers with the most heat-tolerant of squirrels.

Squirrels also tend to dislike safflower, so our Safflower Feast and Golden Safflower Feast are also worth a try.

We recommend trying safflower, in particular our Golden Safflower Feast, which is attractive to a wide variety of birds, but starlings and doves tend to not like it as much.

In the unlikely event that you open a brand new box from us and find bugs, call us immediately! 830-620-9090, and remove the infested product from your store.

We recommend disposing of the infested product, cleaning the area very well, and putting out traps to make sure they are gone.

Our bagged seed, small cylinders, small cakes, and large cakes are wrapped in a material that is very difficult for bugs to get into, so those are very unlikely to become infested.

Don’t put more product out on the shelf than you need. Keep any product not on the shelf tightly sealed. We recommend taping up all the edges of the box. To protect from critters that could chew through the box, we recommend storing the product in plastic totes. Some customers also use floral cabinets to keep the product safe!
